Is Monsanto's herbicide resistant alfalfa really needed?
If only 7% of the alfalfa crop was treated with an herbicide before the introduction of this Monsanto genetically modified seed, USDA simply approved the use of more poison on crops that most farmers don't see as needing herbicide. These flagrant law-breaking actions by Monsanto indicate that their ultimate goal may be to destroy the entire organic sector of our food system. Milk and meat will no longer pass organic certification. Consumer demand for labeling of GMO in state by state campaigns is important in our fight to control the safety of what we put in our bodies. Clearly USDA has not sufficiently protected our health or our environment.
