Plans for the People’s Food Justice Summit were announced at the Food Justice Conference in Oakland in 2011 by the Community Food and Justice Coalition (CFJC) and Food First.
The stated purpose of this December 8 Summit is to provide a place for community members and organizations to gather after the elections to strategize next moves for the Food Justice Movement.
All across the country, people are talking about the problems with our food system. Recognizing that critical work is being done in local communities around the country, we believe it is time to build a food justice movement.
We come together to develop concrete action steps for collaboration and movement building in 2013. The People’s Summit is just the beginning of a longer process of building a strong, united movement.
CFJC, Food First, and other local, state, and national organizations are in the process of drafting a vision, agenda, and overarching principles to guide the December 8 Summit. We invite you to join us in this process as we build an inclusive People’s Food Justice Summit of, for, and by the People.
We invite you to participate as individuals, as organizations, and as communities to contribute your unique story and to inform the action steps of the People’s Food Justice Campaign.
