WikiLeaks recentely released a draft text of the intellectual property section of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) treaty which exposes the fact that it threatens internet freedom, access to medicine, civil liberties and more.
Here are 10 reasons why farmers and eaters of the Pacific Rim (U.S. included) should be concerned about the impact of the TPP. While we don't know all the details of this secretly negotiated draft of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), we do know that 20 years of NAFTA have damaged local food and agriculture systems in North America. Fast-track legislation for the TPP was introduced in the U.S. Senate on January 9, 2014. This legislation would allow the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to pass without meaningful scrutiny by our Congressional Representatives.
