Food Sovereignty Prize 2013!
Please join the US Food Sovereignty Alliance for an evening of inspiration and music at a live awards ceremony on October 15th as we honor the Haitian Group of 4 (G4) and the South American Dessalines Brigade, an international peasant-to-peasant collaboration working to rebuild Haiti’s seed, soil and agricultural systems.
In addition, the Nadu Women’s Collective of India, National Coordination of Peasant Organizations of Mali and Basque Country Farmers Union in Europe will be awarded honorable mentions for their roles in the struggle for a more democratic food system.
Food First is a member of the US Food Sovereignty Alliance and is proud to be awarding the 2013 Food Sovereignty Prize.
We will be joined by our MC Blain Snipstal and special guest and keynote speaker Shirley Sherrod – farm advocate, activist, and former USDA Georgia Director for Rural Development – with music by Martha Redbone and Jen Chapin.
“With this prize, we’re honoring real-world, sustainable solutions to poverty, social instability and food insecurity,” said Montana farmer Dena Hoff, North American Co-Chair of La Via Campesina, the winner of the first Food Sovereignty Prize in 2009.
It's STILL NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER for the event on October 15th.
