Court rules in favor of farmworkers - Sakuma Berry Farms must remove security from farmworkers' housing area

Today Familias Unidas por la Justicia and individual plaintiff Felimon Pineda won a significant court victory when Skagit County Superior Court Judge John M. Meyer ordered Sakuma Brothers Berry Farms to remove security guards from their housing.
Small-Small-scale farming, resistance and food sovereignty: a conversation with Basque Farmers’ Union, EHNE
EHNE-Bizkaia has been at the forefront of food sovereignty activism since its formation in 1976, and was a founding member of La Via Campesina. Made up of agricultural organizations from across the Basque Country, EHNE-Bizkaia provides educational and economic support to over 6,000 members in addition to union representation.
The union has helped foster a vibrant local food system of small farmers and cooperative businesses in the Basque Country. Because of their innovative work, EHNE-Bizkaia was recently recognized as an honoree for the 2013 Food Sovereignty Prize.
