Instructions for Obtaining Review, Desk, and Course Adoption Copies
Review Copies
If you would like to review a Food First Books title for a journal or publication, please submit your request to us on journal or company letterhead with the author and title you are requesting. If you have a deadline, please tell us. We provide free review copies only for books published within the last two years. Review copy requests can take four to six weeks to process. Please submit your request by fax at 510-654-4551, email at rgarcia [at] foodfirst [dot] org or by mail to Food First Books, Attn: Review Copies, 398 60th Street, Oakland, CA 94618-1212.
Examination Copies
If you are considering a Food First Books title for possible course use and would like to receive an examination review copy, please submit your order on your school letterhead along with $5.00 per book plus $3.00 in the US or $5.00 in Canada for shipping and handling. Please include all relevant course information including course(s) for which you are considering adopting the book and expected enrollment.
To order by fax or e-mail, please include your credit card number, expiration date, and name on the card. You can mail your exam copy request along with prepayment to Food First Books, attn: Examination/Review Copies, 398 60th Street, Oakland, CA 94618-1212. Or fax: 510-654-4551 or email rgarcia [at] foodfirst [dot] org. Canadian customers can only request exam copies by credit card or by mailing a money order. Exam copy requests are limited to two titles per semester. Requests received without payment will not be processed.
Course Adoption
If you have adopted a Food First title for a course, submit your desk copy request to us on your school letterhead. Please include course information, expected enrollment and course title. There is a limit of three copies per title.
We fulfill requests for the US and Canada only. Send your request on department letterhead. Include the class name, expected enrollment, and when the class starts. Tell us if it is a required or recommended text; if the bookstore has placed the order; and how many desk copies you will need (limit is three).
Examination copies are available for $5.00, plus $3.00 shipping/handling in the US or $5.00 shipping/handling in Canada. Add 8.75% tax if you are in California. Please enclose a check for the correct amount. You can fax or email rgarcia [at] foodfirst [dot] org with your credit card information (account number, expiration date, and name on the card) along with a phone number on letterhead. Unfortunately, we cannot credit you if you do not adopt the text for your course.
