Hosted in honor of EHNE-Bizkaia, this will be the first Food Sovereignty Tours Fundraising Dinner. Proceeds will support our scholarship program for young farmers and activists!
About EHNE – Bizkaia
EHNE has been at the forefront of food sovereignty activism since its formation in 1976, and was a founding member of La Via Campesina. Comprising agricultural organizations from across the Basque Country, EHNE – Bizkaia provides educational and economic support to over 6,000 members in addition to union representation.
The union has helped foster a vibrant local food system of small farmers and cooperative businesses in the Basque Country. Because of their innovative work, EHNE – Bizkaia was recently recognized as an honoree for the 2013 Food Sovereignty Prize.
About Our Scholarship Program
Young people, activists and farmers are among the least likely to have the resources to travel. In order to help them connect with their counterparts internationally, we have managed to offer small discounts based on need and merit to 12 participants per tour. But this isn’t enough. We believe that young activists and farmers are the future of food system transformation, so help us raise money for our Scholarship fund by participating in this dinner, and make our travel opportunities accessible to them!
About SkyHorse Ranch
SkyHorse Ranch is a 190-acre coastal California wonderland located in the beautiful rolling hills of Valley Ford. Bordering Marin and Sonoma Counties, and overlooking the Estero De Americano, the Ranch is home to sheep, goats and horses, as well as abundant wildlife. We will enjoy music and dancing in their charming barn surrounded by gardens and panoramic, pastoral views of the Sonoma County hills.
*The Silent Auction is part of our scholarship fundraising efforts, so don’t forget your checkbook! All proceeds will benefit Food First's Food Sovereignty Tours Scholarship Fund for young activists and farmers.
Can't come, but you want to donate to the scholarship fund.
