The Biofuel Myths
International Herald Tribune
By Eric Holt-Giménez
Published: July 10, 2007
The term "biofuels" suggests renewable abundance: clean, green, sustainable assurance about technology and progress. This pure image allows industry, politicians, the World Bank, the United Nations and even the International Panel on Climate Change to present fuels made from corn, sugarcane, soy and other crops as the next step in a smooth transition from peak oil to a yet-to-be-defined renewable fuel economy.
What are RSS Newsfeeds... and How Do I Use Them?
RSS is a type of file that allows websites to share headlines and summaries of recent posts. An RSS newsfeed is basically a list of titles and links to webpages. A user can plug the RSS feed's location into a newsfeed reader program once, and the reader will automatically display links to updated content to the webpage! Sites such as "My Yahoo" or "Google News" use RSS Newsfeeds to display headlines and weather updates. Every category on the Food First website has a newsfeed, which summarizes the most recent pages added to the section.
